In-Situ Measurement of the Meniscus at the Entry and Exit of Grease and Oil Lubricated Rolling Bearing Contacts

This collection contains all the data used and referred to in the paper "In-Situ Measurement of the Meniscus at the Entry and Exit of Grease and Oil Lubricated Rolling Bearing Contacts" Gray et al.
 

The experimental data was captured on the full-scale wind turbine bearing test rig based at the University of Sheffield. There is test data for the bearing lubricated with Hyspin VG 32 oil, Alpha SP 320 oil and Mobil SHC 460 WT grease.

 

The bearing inner raceway has ultrasonic sensors mounted on the inner face. When excited these sensors send ultrasonic waves through the raceway which reflect from the inner raceway-roller contact face. The bearing data is of these raw reflections.

 
 

The experimental data was capturered using the Film Measurement System from Tribosonics Ltd. The entire test programme has a README file with details on the rig specifics and how the tests were carried out.
 

There is also modelling data contained within a structure saved in a .MAT file format. The manuscript body refers to the equations used to generate this model data.
