** This repository is divided into 5 folders. Figure 1.zip -> This folder contains all the AFM raw data and the final images, measurements and treatment of data to produce graphs from Figure 1. Each panel has its corresponding files. The files named "_README.txt" are step by step guides from all the process of the raw data to obtain the final image/graph from the panel shown in Figure 1 in the main text of the paper. If you want to reproduce the final image, just open this file and follow the steps. Figure 2.zip -> This folder contains all the AFM raw data and the final images, measurements and treatment of data to produce graphs from Figure 2. Each panel has its corresponding files. The files named "_README.txt" are step by step guides from all the process of the raw data to obtain the final image/graph from the panel shown in Figure 2 in the main text of the paper. If you want to reproduce the final image, just open this file and follow the steps. Figure 3.zip -> This folder contains all the AFM raw data and the final images, measurements and treatment of data to produce graphs from Figure 3. Each panel has its corresponding files. The files named "_README.txt" are step by step guides from all the process of the raw data to obtain the final image/graph from the panel shown in Figure 3 in the main text of the paper. If you want to reproduce the final image, just open this file and follow the steps. Extended Data -> This folder is divided into 10 subfolders each named: "Extended data Fig X" where X = 1-10 each of them corresponding to the Extended Data Figures 1-10 you can find them on the online version of the paper. Each subfolder contains all the raw data and the final images from all the panels in the Extended Data Figures. There is no "_README.txt" files. A step by step guide of the treatment of all the raw data for these figures will be provided upon request. Biological Repeats -> On the "Statistical analyses and reproducibility" section of the "Methods" on the online version of the paper and in the captions of the Extended Data Fig 1-2 there are specifications of the Biological Repeats and the technical repeats of each of the PG architecture found in our work. Here you can find these repeats organised by Figures and types of PG architecture: Mesh (external mature) / Rings (external nascent)/ Internal / Septum / Live or Sacculi. If you have queries about the origin of these images we can provide this information together with a "README" guide upon request. ** *** Due to the COVID-19 PANDEMIC in 2020 a minor fraction of the raw data (corresponding to panels from "Extended Data Fig 1" and some of the Biological Repeats images) have become inaccessible to authors at the time of publication of this repository. Once access to the laboratory facilities is regained, we will be able to provide the raw files upon request. We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause. ***
